K9 Program

Mars is a Belgian Malinois born in Poland on January 11th, 2020. In February of 2022, he was partnered with Sergeant Acosta, where they trained and nationally certified with Bluestreak K9, in Arkansas. In April of 2022, they began a 15 week long training with the Nebraska Stare Patrol’s K9 Division, where they certified in narcotics detection, article searches, and patrol. 

Patrol certification entails building searches, apprehensions, obedience, and handler control. 

Mars not only deploys for the Colfax County Sheriff’s Office. They have assisted numerous agencies across the State of Nebraska. 

Mars and Sergeant Acosta has participated in numerous k9 demonstrations at Colfax County schools. 

On Mars’s spare time, he enjoys long walks, swimming, and playing fetch.
